Golden Reign - New Collection from What Katy Did Next

The Etoile veil

Katy Howieson is an accessories designer we have worked with many times before and is someone who's taste and style I trust implicitly. Her beautifully designed hair accessories and jewelry set off the imagination, none so much as her latest Reign collection.

Katy styled our garments with her golden pieces to create these stunning images shot by the always brilliant Sally Thurrell.
I love the use of golden make-up to tie the look together and the dark grey tones that make the gold pop in a regal renaissance painting fashion with added risque.

Favourite pieces include the star studded 'Etoile' veil, the delicate 'Beatrice' pearl earrings (we are wearing ours to many occasions this Summer, they are to die for pretty) and the divine golden crown 'Aurelia' that epitomises the way a crown should look, elegant and regal.

Here's what Katy had to say about the collection on Rock My Wedding.....

Katy: After spending most of last year on bespoke orders, I was really looking forward to making a bold statement with a dramatic Winter collection. I was hugely inspired by the hoards of metallic, glittering gold on the A/W Bridal catwalks and wanted to create a line of unique headwear and accessories with a regal air, that encouraged brides to step outside the box – whether it be with something delicately different or a more striking piece.
The Reign collection is all handmade in the UK so if gold isn’t your cup of tea – a lot of the designs can be altered to work with silvers, ivory and pearl shades." Katy Howieson on Rock My Wedding

Photoshoot - Very Pretty Things

This fabulous photoshoot was organised by the wonderful designer and stylist What Katy Did Next and the fabulous photographer Kat Timmins to Launch Katy's beautiful new accessories.
Katy has always been brilliant to work with, she sends me a mouth watering moodboard and I get designing so full of the inspiration she has given me. I always know her pieces and styling skills are flawless.

The blue and silver sequinned cocktail dress, the pink liberty print dress and bodice, our classic debby prom dress and the Claudia dress were selected for the shoot and modeled by the simply stunning Jazmine, Beth and Sophie who did a perfect job.
All dresses available to order in the online shop.

This was the first time working with Kat and wowsers, she's good, very good and taking a look around her tumblr damned cool, I like this a-lot. I adore what she did here, taking the sweeter than sweet edge off (which is always needed with our dresses) the mirror reflections are gorgeous the glossy US Vogue look that I am never sad to see. Love every shot here.

Above are the close ups of Katy's collection, the hand cut silk roses with glass beaded leaves, the 1920's cascading bugle bead comb in silver and dusky pink and my favourite romantic blue feather hair ribbon encrusted with crystals and pearls. Each as beautifully handcrafted in pure luxury as the next. Available to order here.

Flower Girl Dresses and Pretty Hair Pieces ...

Introducing a Anna Vickery's super gorgeous childrenswear shot by the fabulous Sally Thurrell Photography and styled by our favourite lady Katy Howieson of What Katy Did Next.

Anna designed these flower girl dresses with the shoot in mind, the lilac dotty dress is the perfect vintage 60s style I imagine toddlers look best in, especially with those little sequin shoes and blonde curls.

The mint/teal chiffon flower dress has a silk bodice with ruffle trim and the ivory corded lace and chiffon flower girl dress makes a very pretty dress for all ages. The tulle capelets are the perfect dress up  trimmed in velvet and all are just wonderful for girls to twirl, run and dance about in!

Anna loves working on bespoke designs for weddings and each of the dresses can be made in different sizes and in a colour of your choice to match your wedding theme. For any questions contact Anna here.

Katy teamed Anna's super cute and gorgeous dresses with her hand beaded sashes and stunning hair accessories. I love the star  and the big bow so much! You can take a peek at them all in her shop here.
My latest glitter bodice and mint silk skirt were on show and I designed a 'mini me' version with a sequinned t shirt and tulle sequined skirt, just the outfit I dreamt of as a little girl. These two models were Niece and Aunty which is a great way of getting perfect relaxed photos!

Anna's will be opening her own online shop very soon but in the meantime you can order the beautiful flower girl / party dresses from our combined Etsy shop here.

The Week That Was ...

We'll be sharing each week in pictures as 'The Week that Was' so you can catch a glimpse of what we're up to. Here is last week.

Gorgeous green floral Tanya Whelan cotton for cutting.

A very special yellow dress order.

It was sunny here for a while last week.
A baby pink underskirt for a bride who will now be wed!

The 'Fat Willy's' surf vest Wing bought me from his trip to Falmouth. I love this neon logo so much and will be wearing this to death. (wish they had a more enticing website though!)

The amazing box of trinkets sent to me as a thank you from What Katy Did next. The green glitter peg magnets are the perfect addition to the studio.
Anna and Laura outside the Goldbrick House tweet up hosted by the Little Wedding Helper last week. It was a fabulous evening of meeting some lovely people.

I'm incredibly flattered our dresses get to grace such stunning girls and be surrounded by so many pretty things, in a warm country cottage.

The shoot was featured on Love My Dress recently and we will be going into more depth about all the amazing people involved soon. And of course sharing pics of our dresses!
