Bridal Separates 2016 - Wells Photoshoot Part 1

Alexandra King Bridal Separates 2016/17

At the beginning of August we shot some pieces from our bridal separates collection in Wells with models Kim and Tie. It was a beautifully sunny day and we chose to shoot around the market place and centre. I'm still discovering Wells and the interesting corners. The Cathedral and Vicars close felt a little too obvious to start with and are locations that will need more planning.

The images come in two sets, this gorgeous Moroccan yellow from the entrance to the Bishops Palace grounds and the black and whites.

The Agnes, Boat neck bodice
The Anais, Tulle Ballet Skirt
The Astrid, Silk chiffon Ballet Skirt

Bridal Accessories - Polly Victoria, Wells

Models - Kim and Ti - We are always looking for models so message us if you are local and would like to be added to our books.

Styling and Photography - Alexandra King

Old Hollywood Photoshoot

Old Hollywood Socialite Photoshoot

A few months ago our lovely customer Cairistiona agreed to model for portraits in our gowns. These are some of the first portraits I have shot and am really pleased with the style and the look of the dresses. The aim was a 1930s Old Hollywood / Socialite style and Cairistiona had just the right look of intelligence and elegance. Thank you to Cairistiona for modelling, looking beautiful and for putting on so many dresses.

Learning to take my own photographs is really important especially when I am looking for a very specific image of the dress.
I have worked with incredible photographers who as you can see in the journal have produced the most stunning images of the dresses. However it isn't always possible to have a photographer on tap nor is ever fair to ask a photographer to change their style to suit your specific whim. Hopefully over time I can refine my photography skills and add another string to my bow.

Back in the early Spring a group of us - designers, photographers, film crew, stylists and models and more arrived at Elmore Court in the Cotswolds for a two day photoshoot.

These images are from the first day with model Laura who was an absolute gem and tough as nails for standing in the freezing cold lake, simply swathed in a sheer lace dress of mine.

The look was Lady of the Lake emerging from the waters to take her place in the grand house at the ball. She transcends from bohemian beauty of nature in sheer lace, to divine goddess in couture draped tulle.

The gowns featured were the Dove Tulle Ballgown and The Bohemian Blue Lace Gown.

The crew were ...

Photographer - Laura Power
Florist - Sorori Design - Maria Wilcox
Stylist - Lauren Grey
Model - Laura
Effects - Every Event Hire
Film Crew - Vogue wedding films

A huge thank you to everyone at Elmore Court for letting us use the stunning house and grounds.

Cairistiona Vintage Portraits

Alexandra King bespoke dresses

Alexandra King Gold Sequin Dress

Late last year I had the opportunity to photograph our very lovely customer Cairistiona in a few of our gowns. Its always fabulous when we meet someone who is as excited about our dresses as we are and just loves trying everything on!

Cairistiona has a wonderfully elegant vintage look just like a old movie star from the 1940s where they all had personality and intelligence included. The gold sequinned gown was modeled along with a bespoke piece and vintage headpiece.

She Loves Dresses - Polka dot Tulle Prom Dress

Late last year we were so proud to collaborate with the gorgeous Jenny of She Loves Dresses and here are the fantastic images she produced for us.

Jenny modeled the Gloria dress, a polkadot sequinned version of our Debby tulle prom dress in black tulle with large white penny paillettes.

Photoshoot by Vicky Wheeler

Last year I was lucky enough to have some dresses photographed by Vicki Wheeler an up and coming international fashion photographer.
These are a few of my favourite images she took in Bradford on Avon with stunning model Casey Jefferies. The dresses are the Juno tulle wedding dress and the Sandee lace prom dress.

Thanks Vicki for these great images! x

Golden Reign - New Collection from What Katy Did Next

The Etoile veil

Katy Howieson is an accessories designer we have worked with many times before and is someone who's taste and style I trust implicitly. Her beautifully designed hair accessories and jewelry set off the imagination, none so much as her latest Reign collection.

Katy styled our garments with her golden pieces to create these stunning images shot by the always brilliant Sally Thurrell.
I love the use of golden make-up to tie the look together and the dark grey tones that make the gold pop in a regal renaissance painting fashion with added risque.

Favourite pieces include the star studded 'Etoile' veil, the delicate 'Beatrice' pearl earrings (we are wearing ours to many occasions this Summer, they are to die for pretty) and the divine golden crown 'Aurelia' that epitomises the way a crown should look, elegant and regal.

Here's what Katy had to say about the collection on Rock My Wedding.....

Katy: After spending most of last year on bespoke orders, I was really looking forward to making a bold statement with a dramatic Winter collection. I was hugely inspired by the hoards of metallic, glittering gold on the A/W Bridal catwalks and wanted to create a line of unique headwear and accessories with a regal air, that encouraged brides to step outside the box – whether it be with something delicately different or a more striking piece.
The Reign collection is all handmade in the UK so if gold isn’t your cup of tea – a lot of the designs can be altered to work with silvers, ivory and pearl shades." Katy Howieson on Rock My Wedding

Photoshoot - Very Pretty Things

This fabulous photoshoot was organised by the wonderful designer and stylist What Katy Did Next and the fabulous photographer Kat Timmins to Launch Katy's beautiful new accessories.
Katy has always been brilliant to work with, she sends me a mouth watering moodboard and I get designing so full of the inspiration she has given me. I always know her pieces and styling skills are flawless.

The blue and silver sequinned cocktail dress, the pink liberty print dress and bodice, our classic debby prom dress and the Claudia dress were selected for the shoot and modeled by the simply stunning Jazmine, Beth and Sophie who did a perfect job.
All dresses available to order in the online shop.

This was the first time working with Kat and wowsers, she's good, very good and taking a look around her tumblr damned cool, I like this a-lot. I adore what she did here, taking the sweeter than sweet edge off (which is always needed with our dresses) the mirror reflections are gorgeous the glossy US Vogue look that I am never sad to see. Love every shot here.

Above are the close ups of Katy's collection, the hand cut silk roses with glass beaded leaves, the 1920's cascading bugle bead comb in silver and dusky pink and my favourite romantic blue feather hair ribbon encrusted with crystals and pearls. Each as beautifully handcrafted in pure luxury as the next. Available to order here.
