Liberty Bridesmaids Dresses ...... Carolines Wedding Part 2

Before you get to see all of Caroline's amazing wedding photo's I thought I'd share the bridesmaids dresses first. Just like the wedding dress the bridesmaids dresses were full of English rose gorgeousness.
Caroline chose the Liberty Claire-Aude Tana lawn in turquoise, pink, lime and plum. The colours were fresh and vibrant and each of the bridesmaids had a different version in the same ditsy print. The underskirts were to match the colours of the shoes (Kurt Geiger patent Anna's) and each had a plaited belt in the shades from the print.

Liberty Tana lawns are just brilliant to work with and make the best tea dresses. The cotton is woven with a little stretch, is strong and light at the same time and just sews like a dream.
Claire's dress had a cutaway shoulder bodice and full skirt an Ellen had a t shirt cut, both with plunging v backs that keep the silhouettes from being too twee. It's another design I want to make for myself when I get round to it, but which liberty print to choose?

We also lined the glitter bags in the matching print, it looks fabulous against the glitter! These are definitely the best tea dresses of the year and will be making another appearance next Summer in a few different prints.

Coming up next will be the actual wedding photos xxx

Moodboard - Frida

This weeks mood board is for a dress we have been working on for a shoot this week in Devon. The inspirations - Frida Kahlo and Gypsy Luxe.
Frida is one of my favourite films and she is one of my favourite artists and women all round. I love the colours, the ruffles, the flowers and the gorgeous sex appeal of everything surrounding Frida Kahlo. Pretty and feminine but tough as nails and beautifully intelligent.
I have also looked at the romantic gypsy, mainly Spanish influences and Flamenco in the fifties. Oh The ruffles!

I recommend watching Frida the film with Salma Hayek and reading books on her as an artist. This taschen book is a great starting point. Her influence is never ending.

The Glitter is Here!

The Glitter bags are here! And Bows too!

These gorgeous bags were first commissioned for a wonderful wedding (which is happening very soon) and we loved them so much that we wanted to share them with everyone.
Our bags are made in a super spangling glitter in either pink or silver for the moment, There will be more colours coming soon.
Lined in a liberty print cotton, these linings will change frequently so no one will have the same bag as you.
The large bow is detachable and has a pin back so that you can also wear it on a dress or belt.

The bows are also available to buy separately.

Hope you enjoy looking at our new sparklers as much as we do? Seeing it a real life seriously results in a little squeal of joy! xxx

To order your bag or bow simply click on one of the pictures.

The Week That Was

This week we have cut and made and said goodbye to a few dresses for various exciting occasions. The leopard print is my favourite of the week complete with it's bright flashy underskirt. I really can't wait to share the story of this dress!

The underskirt to go with, full of ruffles!

The Liberty Claire-Aude Tana Lawn fabric we are making the prettiest bridesmaids dresses from. You should see what's going with them below in the form of glitter!

The delicate vintage lace of a secret dress that has the ultimate twirl factor of a dress we have ever made.

A sample bow tie for a wedding full of bow ties. Every guest has been asked to wear one and I love this idea!

Anna jet-setted over to Barcelona for a beautiful Art Nouveau garden wedding of friends. Check out her new blue dress made in a vintage scarf print.

And ........ THE GLITTER. It's coming very soon and boy is it going to be special. Sorry it's not a dress!

That was the week that was. I also went for a great Sunday walk in Langport Somerset and I have quite an exciting pink bundle arriving soon that is the best treat ever. Watch this space, next week is going to be soooo exciting!

Blue velvet in the making

A little making of the blue velvet princess coat which we made earlier this month to go to Italy, Most of the lining is hand stitched in place and I love the way it sits over a full skirt. Perfect for the opera in this gorgeous jewely dark blue.

January has well and truly come and nearly gone already in all it's manic, whirlwind of wedding splendour. It was like everyone set their alarm clocks to start plans this month and I have had to force myself to sit down and do a post. The scary thing is the longer I leave it, the more I am struggling to find something interesting to post. I need to start rambling more again.
I also can't share anything like sketches or dresses until the weddings have been so I have lots of secrets sitting in my studio at the moment!
Time for new collections too ......................................................
